Uganda: Women and girls encouraged to attend free cervical cancer screening

The call comes following a recent cervical cancer screening report compiled by Uganda Women Parliamentary Association (UWOPA), which suggests more women in Uganda are testing positive for cervical cancer.

Betty Galiwa, a prevention officer at AIDS Information Centre (AIC), says cancer screening services are offered at no cost at the Soroti Regional Hospital and therefore women need to take advantage of the opportunity.

According to the UWOPA report out of the 5,500 Ugandan women who were tested in September last year, 300 had cancer.
