The Zimbabwe National Network of People Living With HIV and AIDS (ZNNP+) is to carry out a research process to produce a stigma index for Zimbabwe.

It is understood that the main purpose of the stigma index is to increase the evidence base for policies and programmes, reduce HIV-related stigma and discrimination and ensure that the Meaningful Involvement of People Living with AIDS (MIPA) principle is enshrined in local, regional and national responses to HIV.

The research is expected to validate data on the nature of stigma in Zimbabwe, produce technical guidelines and tools for conducting further research to measure stigma in the country and come up with an inception and a preliminary report on research findings. A final research report defining the measure of stigma in the country, including lessons learnt and a set of actionable recommendations will also be produced.

ZNNP+ was founded in 1992 and officially registered as a non-governmental organisation in 1999. The organisation is a national umbrella body that represents and coordinates the interests and activities of support groups and organisations of people living with HIV and AIDS throughout Zimbabwe.

ZNNP+ is responsible for the coordination of stigma index in Zimbabwe and is now looking to engage a consultant to lead the research process.
