HIV prevalence falls for soilders in Ugandan Anti Stock Theft unit

HIV prevalence among members of the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) in Kapelebyong County, Amuria district, Uganda now stands at 3% down from 10%, a medical official says.

Isaac Aluku, a medical officer at ASTU Amuria, attributes the low prevalence rate among the soldiers to the continuous sensitisation of the forces on the risks of unsafe sex.

He says the figures were previously high because government forces had little information on HIV.
