Uganda: The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) has unveiled its five year strategic plan with a call for more funding into HIV/AIDS related activities countrywide, an official has said.

Richard Wanyama, TASO Uganda’s Donor Liaison Assistant, says the strategic plan for 2013-2017 has a target of reaching out to 3 million Ugandans living with HIV/AIDS by 2017.

According to Wanyama, more effort will be put towards HIV prevention, HIV/AIDS care and treatment, social support for orphans and vulnerable children, plus health systems strengthening across the country.

Wanyama also explained that at least 200,000 people living with the virus will receive HIV/AIDS care and treatment as planned.

However, Wanyama notes that the resource basket to fund these activities still remains a major set back and that those interested should come on board to invest in the noble cause to wipe out the scourge in Uganda.
