Kumi district, Uganda has today launched a campaign on home improvement sanitation, officials have revealed.

The campaign is aimed at promoting and improving hygienic standards among different homesteads in the area through the digging of pit latrines.

Dr. John Opolot, the Kumi district health officer, observes that the campaign will lead to a home improvement competition in which the three cleanest homes will be selected to champion the cause for hygiene.

The competition will kick off in four sub counties including Nyero town council, Kanyumu and Kumi town council.
